I have been using a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 for the last six months. This device can be used as a laptop or as a tablet as it has a detachable keyboard. I tend to use the touch screen instead of the mouse on the keyboard. I have got very used to using a touch screen. So much so, that when I am using a normal laptop or computer, I go to touch the screen to click and swipe!
I enjoy using the Surface Pro and I know more and more devices are incorporating touch screens. This makes me wonder, is the mouse redundant? In ten years will children even know what a computer mouse is or was? Will the computer mouse join outdated technology, such as the floppy disk, VHS and the electronic typewriter? It seems that many of the ICTs we are using today will not be in our future classrooms.
